Southeast Missouri State women's basketball sophomore Tesia Thompson was named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Thompson averaged 26 points and 12.5 rebounds in two close losses this past week, recording double-doubles in both games. She now has 12 double-doubles this season.

The guard had 24 points and 12 rebounds against Austin Peay on Thursday and 26 points and 13 rebounds Saturday versus Murray State.

In the two games, Thompson shot 50 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the free throw line.

This is Thompson's second OVC weekly honor this season as she shared the honors with Belmont senior guard Darby Maggard, who scored 20 points or more in both games last week.

OVC Freshman of the week was Murray State guard Macey Turley and Newcomer of the Week was MSU junior Evelyn Adebayo.

Southeast, which is currently eighth in the OVC, returns to action at 5:15 p.m. Thursday when it hosts Tennessee State. The Redhawks then close out the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Saturday against Belmont, which clinched the regular-season title this past weekend.

The top eight teams make the conference tournament.
