DDD Roundup: Kennett girls basketball beat Cape Central 43-36 for first conference win

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Kennett Indians varsity girls basketball team outlasted the Cape Central Tigers 43-36 for its first SEMO Conference victory of the season Monday night.

Kennett led 11-6 after one quarter and increased its lead to 21-14 by halftime before Cape Central moved ahead 26-25 by the end of the third quarter. Kennett outscored Cape Central 18-10 in the final quarter to rally for the road victory.

Janesha Hubbard tallied half of her team-high 12 points in the final quarter to pace Kennett’s offense.

Ella Vogel recorded 10 of her team-high 13 points before halftime to pace Cape Central.

Kennett (9-12) improves to 1-4 in SEMO Conference play with the victory. Cape Central (7-12) drops to 0-5 in SEMO Conference play with the loss.

Kennet hosts Saxony Lutheran and Cape Central hosts Dexter on Thursday.

Campbell 64, Puxico 54

CAMPBELL, Mo. - Despite a game-high 33 points by Sophia Hancock, the Puxico Indians girls basketball team couldn’t overcome Campbell’s balanced attack Monday night at Campbell High School.

Claire Parker scored 20 points, Emily Peters had 19 and Hannah Farmer had 10 in Campbell’s 64-54 win.

The Camels (13-8) took a 14-10 lead after one quarter, but Puxico (7-11) rallied to tie the score at 25 at halftime. They outscored Puxico 20-10 in the third to take a 45-35 lead into the fourth.
