Malden beats Kennett 45-44 in closing second of BHC seventh grade boys basketball championship
KENNETT, Mo. - The No. 1 seeded Malden Green Wave rallied from a 44-38 deficit in the closing minute of regulation to beat the No. 2 seeded Kennett Indians 45-44 in the seventh grade championship of the Bootheel Conference Tournament Saturday.
Quentin Kilgore knocked down one of three free throws after being fouled with less then one second remaining shooting a 3-pointer to seal the victory for Malden.
Malden led 13-10 after one quarter, Kennett led 22-21 at halftime and Malden led 33-31 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Marcus Burton paced Malden with 18 points. Quamerius Farmer also finished in double digits for the Green Wave with a dozen points.
Zy Taylor paced Kennett with 13 points. Ashton Williams added 12 points for Kennett.
Malden beat No. 5 seeded Portageville 43-38 Friday night to reach the championship. Kennett won its semifinal against No. 3 seeded South Pemiscot 41-32 Friday night.
