SMAFC all-region team is released

The Southeast Missouri Area Football Coaches Association recently released their all-region teams, with several local athletes receiving honors.

In Class 2, Charleston’s 10-2 season was rewarded with several 10 being named to the all-region team. Senior Q’nairies Anderson was the offensive most valuable player in Class 2 after rushing for 2,838 yards and 38 touchdowns. The Southeast Missouri State University verbal commitment leaves the Bluejay program as the all-time leading rusher.

Caruthersville’s Jermiane Hollywood was the Defensive Player of the Year and also the Lineman of the Year while the senior’s coach, Jimmy Jackson, was the Coach of the Year.

In Class 4/5, Sikeston had five players named to the all-region team. Offensively, senior Tra Ranson was named to the first team as an athlete and outside linebacker. Senior Trent Elliott was also first team as a tight end while senior Tyreke Jamison was first team as a defensive end and a second team offensive tackle. Junior Seth Copeland was first team as an inside linebacker and second team as an offensive guard.

Jordan Kent was named the offensive most valuable player in Class 4/5 while teammate Randol McDowell was named the defensive MVP. North County senior Pacen DeClue was the Lineman of the Year while Jackson’s Brent Eckley was named Coach of the Year.

In Class 3, Kennett junior running back Marsayv’aun Harrell was the Offensive MVP while teammate, senior Revon Lemmons, was the Defensive MVP. Park Hills Central senior Tanner Friend was the Lineman of the Year in Class 3 while Kennett head coach Joel Wyatt was Coach of the Year.

In Class 1, undefeated state champion Hayti dominated the all-region team including the MVP awards. Senior running back Ivory Winters, who has verbally committed to Indiana University, was the Offensive MVP while teammate, junior Adreian Stevenson was the Defensive MVP. Senior Louis Wright was the Lineman of the Year and Hayti coach Dominique Robinson was the Coach of the Year.
