MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Jackson soccer rallies for 3-2 win over Northwest

Jake Sauerbraunn scored on free kick with 10 minutes left in regulation as the Jackson boys soccer team completed a 3-2 comeback victory over host Northwest in Cedar Hill, Missouri.

Chalon Domian had given Jackson (13-1-2) a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, but Northwest countered with a pair of goals for the lead at halftime.

Mason Grindstaff tied the game about 20 minutes into the second half, then Sauerbraunn provided the game-winner from about 25 yards out. Colton Seyer had an assist on one of the goals.

Luke Mirly made five saves in goal for the Indians.

Jackson won the JV contest 2-1.

Perryville 1, Cape Central 0

Stratton Kaempfe netted the lone goal of the game in the 68th minute as the Pirates posted a road win over the Tigers.

Austin Welk provided the assist for Perryville (11-7).

Cape Girardeau Central fell to 9-6.

SOFTBALL

Cape Central 16, Fredericktown 0

Erica Goodin blasted a home run and batted in four runs as the Tigers crushed the Black Cats on the road in four innings.

Winning pitcher Kylie Lossing pitched a complete game with four strikeouts and one walk for Cape Girardeau Central (5-11).

Catie Davis and Valerie Greenley each doubled and had four RBIs for the Tigers.

Maesyn Rehkop went the distance in the circle and took the loss for Fredericktown (5-13). All 16 runs were earned.

Winning pitcher Kelly Ivy went the distance in the circle for Kelly (13-6). She gave up two hits and recorded five strikeouts.

Kenna Wheatley was the losing and also doubled for East Prairie (0-2). Eight of the runs were earned and she walked five batters.

Notre Dame 13, Perryville 7

Grace Lemons doubled twice and drove in seven runs to lead the Bulldogs in the road win over the Pirates.

Hailey Kutz pitched five innings to get the win for Notre Dame (14-5). She allowed four earned runs on 10 hits, with three strikeouts and one walk.

Makayla Brown tossed a complete and took the loss for Perryville (6-12). Eleven runs were earned and she had four walks and two strikeouts.
