Southeast Missouri State volleyball drops pair of matches in tournament

Southeast Missouri State volleyball lost two matches Saturday, going winless at the Kangaroo Classic in Kansas City, Missouri.

SEMO lost to Providence in five sets (21-25, 20-25, 27-25, 25-17, 12-15) and then fell in four sets to tournament host University of Missouri-Kansas City (25-18, 15-25, 22-25, 27-29) at the Swinney Recreation Center. Those two defeats followed a loss to Arkansas State on Friday in the Redhawks' opening game of the tournament.

Despite SEMO (6-5) not picking up a win, Laney Malloy was named to the all-tournament team after posting 58 kills in those three games. The sophomore had a .287 hitting percentage and tallied a career-high 22 kills against Providence and had 19 against UMKC.

Southeast returns to the court at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a road game against Western Illinois.
