Southeast Missouri State's Santacaterina, Litang earn OVC Football weekly accolades

A day after the Southeast Missouri State football team earned its first win of the season, it received a bevy of weekly accolades from the Ohio Valley Conference.

Quarterback Daniel Santacaterina was named OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, and kicker Nicholas Litang was tabbed OVC Co-Specialist Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday.

Santacaterina had four touchdowns in SEMO's 40-21 win over Dayton on Saturday, three through the air and one on the ground. The Northern Illinois transfer was 21-of-31 passing for 269 yards and had a 9-yard touchdown run.

The junior led three touchdown drives of 72 yards or more in the fourth quarter as the Redhawks pulled away late.

Santacaterina is 12th in the nation in passing efficiency (169.4), 13th in completion percentage (69.8%) and 17th in passing touchdowns (4).

UT Martin quarterback Dresser Winn was the other Co-Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 355 yards and four touchdowns.

Litang was 2-for-2 on field goals, making a 35-yarder and a 37-yarder. He was also 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts. He shared the honors with Jacksonville State's Jason Pierce, who averaged 47.7 yards on three punts.

Eastern Kentucky's Leodis Moore was the OVC Defensive Player of the Week.
