SD ROUNDUP: East Prairie baseball team rolls past Kelly; Sikeston soccer wins first

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- East Prairie got a stellar pitching performance from Kasten Campbell as the Eagles downed Kelly 7-1 Friday afternoon.

Campbell pitched a complete game, allowing just one unearned run, striking out six while walking four and allowing four hits.

East Prairie (2-2) got things going with two runs in the first and added another two in the third and in the fifth before posting a single tally in the sixth. Kelly plated their only run in the fifth.

Luke Marcum and Derez Tipler each had two hits while Campbell helped himself with a double and three RBIs. Tipler stole two bases, scored three runs and tallied a double.

Peyton Eftink had two of Kelly's four hits. Jonathon Tyler took the loss for Kelly (2-2), allowing three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings of work, striking out seven and walking just one.

Woodland 9, Richland 7

ESSEX, Mo. -- The Woodland Cardinals scored in every inning but one in their 9-7 road win over Richland Friday afternoon.

Woodland trailed 4-2 after three innings but tied the game in the top of the fourth and broke ahead with three runs in the top of the fifth, adding insurance tallies in the sixth and seventh.

Richland (1-2) rallied in the bottom of the seventh, adding two runs but left the tying runs on second and third as the last out was recorded.

Damian Lutes led Woodland with three hits and three runs while Karson Skinner and Michael McCormick collected two hits apiece.

Wyatt Allen pitched five innings, allowing four runs and four hits, walking four and striking out six.

Josh Sidler led Richland with two hits while Tanner Freeman was saddled with the loss in relief of starter Nick Azure.

Saxony Lutheran 20, Bloomfield 2

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Mason Lewis picked up five hits, leading Saxony Lutheran to a 20-2 road win over Bloomfield Friday.

Lewis had a double and home run, driving in a whopping 11 runs as Saxony Lutheran (2-1) notched five runs in the third and fourth innings, pulling away from the Wildcats. Jack Foeste added two hits and three RBI for the Crusaders, who had 15 hits in the game.

Brandon Siler had the lone hit of the game for Bloomfield (0-2), a two-RBI single in the fourth inning.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Sikeston scored their first goal of the season and made it count Friday afternoon, defeating Perryville 1-0 in the consolation semifinals of the Noon Optimist Tournament at Cape Central.

Sikeston (1-2) got their lone goal from Emma Jones, assisted by Mackenzie Yant.

Kylie Noe got the shutout in goal for the Lady Bulldogs.

Sikeston was back in action Saturday when they took on Notre Dame for the consolation championship.
