Adams, Brawner grab event titles but Southeast Missouri State gymnastics falls at home to Illinois-Chicago

The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team grabbed event titles thanks to Gabrielle Adams and Alexis Brawner, but dropped the team competition as it fell to Illinois-Chicago 193.625-191.325 on Sunday afternoon at Houck Field House.

The event was the team's annual Pink Up Meet.

For Adams it was a first career event title, as the freshman took the vault thanks to a personal best 9.800 on her first rotation of the day.

Brawner was a winner in the floor event, where she posted a 9.875 on the final rotation to finish atop the field.

Another Redhawks freshman earned a strong result in the all-around, as Lindsey Bates finished second with a score of 38.475.

The all-around went to UIC's Mikailla Northern with a 39.050.

Southeast (3-8) competes again on Friday at 6 p.m., as it travels to Shreveport, Louisiana, for a dual meet with Centenary. That matchup will be followed by a Sunday quad meet in Denton, Texas, featuring Centenary and Bridgeport.
