Southeast Missouri State football standout Zach Hall was named to the HERO Sports Sophomore All-America team on Monday.

Hall, who started all 11 games at inside linebacker, was a first team selection after finishing the 2017 season with a team-high 79 tackles, including 38 solo stops.

The 5-foot-11, 238-pound native of Louisville, Kentucky, recorded a team-leading 15 tackles for loss to go along with nine sacks, averaging .82 sacks per game (18th in the country). He also forced a fumble and blocked a kick while turning in 10 or more tackles in four of his final five starts of the season.

Hall's best performance of the season came against host Jacksonville State on Oct. 28, when he finished with a career-high 11 tackles, including three for loss. Hall accounted for three of SEMO's eight sacks in the game, as the Redhawks dropped a 23-7 decision to the third-ranked Gamecocks.

Leading a Redhawks defense that led the Ohio Valley Conference in sacks, Hall earned second team All-OVC honors last month.
