MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Cauble scores 50 points as Oran girls basketball defeats SCC

Junior Leah Cauble had another signature performance, scoring a game-high 50 points and snagging nine rebounds to propel the Oran girls basketball team to its second win in as many nights in a lopsided 91-34 shellacking of conference rival Scott County Central on Tuesday in Morley, Missouri.

Jessie Long recorded 13 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles, who soared to a commanding 64-17 lead at halftime. Kaylee Payne added 11 points and six rebounds for Oran (2-0, 1-0 Scott-Mississippi Conference), which gave up 17 points in the second half as well.

Trinity Thomas and Hannah Bode each had eight points to pace Scott County Central (2-2, 0-1).

Lexi Welter scored 14 points as the Bulldogs staged a late-game rally to edge the Bears by one point in both teams' season opener on the road in the suburban St. Louis area.

Riley Burger contributed 12 points and four rebounds for Notre Dame (1-0) while Julia Williams tallied 10 points and five steals. The Bulldogs trailed by two points at halftime, and the Bears extended their advantage to seven points at the end of the third quarter before the Bulldogs outscored the hosts by eight points in the final quarter to squeak out the win.

Molly Effer scored 14 points to sustain Ursuline Academy (0-1) in the loss.

Abbie Reece netted 18 points as the Tigers started their season with a slim win on the road over the Eagles in a high-fouling affair.

Kassidy Gowan recorded 10 points and four steals for Cape Central (1-0), which trailed by eight points at the break. Scarlet Young had six rebounds to go along with her eight points as the Tigers outscored the Eagles by 13 points in the second half to prowl away with the win.

Callee Pickrell poured in a game-high 22 points for Naylor (0-1). The Eagles got almost half of their points from the charity stripe as there were 54 combined fouls in the game.

Sydney Gartman also had a double-double with 10 points and 19 rebounds for Eagle Ridge (4-0). The Eagles maintained an 11-point advantage at halftime before the Panthers pounced back and outscored the guests by eight points in the second half.

Trent Liley scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to post a double-double as the host Panthers trounced the Black Cats in both teams' season debut.

Lane Baremore also recorded a double-double with 16 points (12 of which came from behind the arc) and 11 rebounds for Meadow Heights (1-0), which held the Black Cats to single digits in three quarters.

Austin Stepp had nine points before fouling out to pace Herculaneum (0-1).
