Trio signs with Southeast Missouri State volleyball

Southeast Missouri State volleyball coach Julie Yankus announced on Monday the addition of three signees during the early signing period.

Middle blocker Elissa Moylan, rightside hitter Colby Greene and setter Claire Ochs will join the Redhawks next season.

"I am proud of our incoming 2018 class," Yankus said in a news release. "These three young women stay true to our mission to recruit student-athletes who will be athletically, academically, and socially successful. We are lucky to have them become a part of the Redhawk family."

As a senior, Moylan was named the Mississippi Athletic Conference Player of the Year at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa. She was a first team all-conference selection and was an Iowa Girls Coaches Association Senior All-Star.

"I'm thrilled to have Elissa become a part of our program and see how she can add to our history of strong middle attackers," Yankus said. "She recently earned Player of the Year honors in a conference filled with quality future collegiate athletes, so I'm excited to see her excel at the collegiate level. She's a physical player who can terminate, and I know she will outwork her opponents day after day."

Greene, who played at Iowa City West High School and hails from North Liberty, Iowa, earned first team honors in the Mississippi Valley Conference as a senior and was also an Iowa Girls Coaches Association Senior All-Star. She was the Trojans' offensive player of the year.

"I'm excited for Colby to join our program and contribute to our depth of rightside attackers," Yankus said. "She has a very high volleyball IQ, and she just finds a way to terminate. With her height, work ethic and athleticism, I anticipate her to develop into an excellent blocker."

Ochs was an all-state and all-conference honoree this season at St. Joseph's Academy. She was a three-year starter for the Angels, who won the Missouri Class 4 state title last month, and was named to the Under Armour Watch List in 2017.

"I'm so excited to see what Claire will bring to this program," Yankus said. "She is one of the most athletic and determined setters that I have seen. Claire knows how to compete. She's a state champion. She knows how to compete at a high level, and she possesses the leadership qualities needed in a setter. I believe she will raise the competitiveness in the gym the day she steps on the court."

Moylan, Greene and Ochs are the first announced signees for the 2018 season.
