DAR ROUNDUP: Neelyville's Trout fans 12 in perfect game

NAYLOR -- Chaney Trout and the Neelyville baseball team were perfect Wednesday.

Trout struck out 12, threw 56 of 73 pitches for strikes including 17 first-pitch strikes to record his first career perfect game.

Trout induced six groundballs and three pop flys to improve to 3-0 on the mound and also tripled in the Tigers' win.

Carter Petty's RBI single in the top of the first inning gave Neelyville (7-2, 2-1 OFC) a lead it never relinquished before the Tigers piled it on with a five-run seventh. Noah Burton had a hit and two RBIs, Wyatt Moon drove in a run with a single, while Parker Jeffries and Nathan Akers each added a hit.

Jordan Cook went the distance for Naylor (1-7, 0-3) allowing six runs (one earned) on six hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.


SOFTBALL

Doniphan 7, Sikeston 5

Karlee Harder and Jaylin Dutton each had multiple hits as the Donettes outlasted the Bulldogs to snap their four-game win streak on the road.

Kaylee Davis got the win for Doniphan (4-2), which finished with six hits to pick up its fourth straight win.


TENNIS

Farmington 9, Poplar Bluff 0

The Mules won just eight games in a SEMO Conference loss to the host Knights.

Shelbey Johnson, Poplar Bluff's No. 2 player, got the closest to a match win, taking five games from Farmington's Abby Jent in an 8-5 loss. Annaleese Williams, Caitlin Dollins and Victoria Ward each won one game apiece while Sara Holland and Mya White lost 8-0.

In doubles play, Holland and Johnson, White and Williams, and Ward and Dollins were all swept as Poplar Bluff fell to 2-5.

"Several of the matches were better than the scores sounded," Mules coach Charles Harper said. "There were many deuce games and long rallies. The girls actually played much better than yesterday, and against a very tough opponent."

Dexter 9, Arcadia Valley 0

The Lady Bearcats (6-1) swept six of their matches in beating Arcadia Valley.

Rachel Singh, Jadyn Northcutt, Abby Dorton and Malia Cook all won 8-0 at the Nos. 3-6 spots, respectively.

The top two doubles teams of Morgan Aldridge and Nicole Sells, and Singh/Northcutt also swept. Dorton/Cook won No. 3 doubles 8-2.

Aldridge won the top singles spot 8-2 and Sells took the No. 2 spot 8-1.
