Firecrackers softball heads to Florida for Babe Ruth World Series

The Heartland Firecrackers 10U softball team will compete in the Babe Ruth World Series on July 27-August 5 in Jensen Beach, Florida.

The Firecrackers won state and regional tournaments, going a combined 8-0. That includes seven wins by mercy rule. At regionals, they outscored opposing teams 49-3. During this run, four different pitchers have secured a win on the mound.

Players hail from Scott City, Chaffee, Benton, Kelso, Delta and Advance. The 15-person roster consists of Brogan Hawkins, Mackenzie Lawless, Ava LeGrand, Kayleigh Holman, Presley Holweg, Addison Carlton, Logan Schiwitz, Macy Burger, Alyssa Dirden, Lily Elders, Journey Black, Maggie Jones, Addisyn Hillemann, Reese Van Pelt and Halle Comer.

The team is coached by Casey Hillemann, Paul Dirden, Ronnie Gray and Gaylen Hawkins while Jordon Comer handles the team manager duties.

The Firecrackers are holding several fundraisers ahead of the World Series trip. They will be selling raffle tickets for a Victory Vegas Motorcycle, St. Louis Cardinals tickets and a grill. They will also sell candles and hold a bike wash at Lawless Harley-Davidson in Scott City.
