Southeast Missouri State softball's Rachel Anderson earns All-Mideast honors
Southeast Missouri State softball freshman Rachel Anderson earned second-team All-Mideast Region honors, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday.
In all, 667 players from 175 programs garnered NFCA Division I All-Region recognition. Anderson, like all other honorees, is now in the running for the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
Anderson, a center fielder, was already named the 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and was all first-team and all-newcomer.
Anderson was second in the OVC in batting average (.412) and slugging percentage (.719) and tied for third in total hits (63). She also was in the top five with a .483 on-base percentage and with 110 total bases.
NFCA bestows first, second and third-team honors on athletes from 10 different regions. Member coaches from each region vote on the teams.
SEMO finished the season 23-27 and missed out on the OVC tournament.
