MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Jackson girls soccer defeats Northwest 5-0 to advance to district final
Grace Pehle recorded a hat trick, as the second-seeded Jackson girls soccer team rolled past Northwest (Cedar Hill) 5-0 in a Class 4 District 1 semifinal Tuesday at Seckman High School in Imperial, Mo.
The Indians will take on top-seeded Seckman in the district title game at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Jaguars blanked fourth-seeded Poplar Bluff 3-0 in the other semifinal.
Lauren Welker added a goal and two assists for Jackson (16-4), while Randa Norman contributed a goal. Taylor Nelson and Haylie Woodard each had one assist for the Indians.
Goalkeeper Sam Schnicker finished with six saves to secure the shutout for Jackson.
Northwest concludes its season with a 10-14 record.
Leopold 7, St. Paul Lutheran (Farmington) 4
Ryan Lewis went 4-for-4 with a double and a triple and got the win, as the second-seeded Wildcats advanced to the Class 1 District 3 championship game with a win over the host Giants at Wilson Rozier Park in Farmington, Mo.
Leopold (6-8) will face top-seeded Valley (Caledonia) in the final at 5:30 p.m. today.
Lewis, who drove in one run and scored twice, came on in relief against St. Paul Lutheran (8-16). He gave up one run on four hits with three walks and one hit batter while striking out 10 in four innings.
Blake Eeftink and Kane Duncan each had a double, as Leopold scored three runs in the third and then four in the fifth.

Tyee Curry recorded a double and drove in two runs, as the fourth-seeded Bluejays watched their season come to an end after the top-seeded Vikings scored a run in the final inning during a semifinal in the Class 1 District 3 Tournament at Wilson Rozier Park in Farmington, Mo.
Bryce Hahs pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to take the loss for Oak Ridge. He allowed two earned runs on three hits, struck out one batter and walked four. The Bluejays wrapped up their season with a record of 5-13.
Ethan Matthews went the last three innings on the mound to get the win for Valley (Caledonia). He gave up one unearned run on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Keeton Loughary added a double and two RBIs for the Vikings (12-10), who will take on Leopold at 5:30 p.m. today for the district championship.
