COMMUNITY BRIEFS: Capahas schedule tryouts for Sunday

The Burger King Capahas will hold tryouts for the 2017 season at 3 p.m. Sunday at Capaha Field.

Those who are interested in playing for the Capahas must be out of high school.

The season begins June 3, while the team will hold its annual benefit auction on June 23.

The Capahas, which began in 1894, are the oldest amateur baseball team in the country.

Keith Raganyi got a hole in one on Saturday at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Raganyi aced hole No. 18 from 126 yards out using a 7 iron.

Witnesses were George Classcock and Jerry Marshall.

Jerry Suedekum hit a hole in one on Thursday at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson.

Suedekum used a 6 hybrid to ace hole No. 8 from 150 yards out. It's the fourth hole in one for Suedekum.

Witnesses were Nub Boswell, Ron Unterreiner and Gene Garrison.

Dalhousie Golf Club will host two Missouri Golf Association Senior Series Tour events this week.

The first event starts at 1 p.m. today. It will be a shotgun start.

The second event begins at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. About 80 players are scheduled to compete, including numerous area golfers.

The Senior Series Tour was started by the MGA in 2006 to give male amateur golfers that are 50 and over a chance to compete across the state.
