Former Kelly High School track and field standout Maurice Davis was recognized on Tuesday as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week.

Davis currently competes at Missouri Valley College, an NAIA program.

Competing in the Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State (Kan.) University against a field with numerous Division II teams, Davis finished fourth in the 100-meter dash. His time of 10.54 in the final met the "A" qualifying standard for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

The 2015 Semoball Awards Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year and two-time Southeast Missourian Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year also competed in the 200, running a time of 22.52.

This is Davis' first career conference honor.

He is currently competing at the KU Relays in the 100-meter dash.

NAIA Nationals will be May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
