Southeast Missouri State women's tennis drops 6-1 decision to UT Martin

The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision against UT Martin in Ohio Valley Conference action Tuesday in Cape Girardeau.

Southeast (10-3, 6-0 OVC) was swept in doubles play to get things started. Isabella Krupa and Oleksandra Doroshenko battled at the top of the lineup but fell, 6-4, before Mila Majtan and Ana Canahuate-Torres lost, 6-1, at the No. 3 position. SEMO's Kseniya Zonova and Anais Emelie trailed 5-2 but didn't finish their match.

Doroshenko tallied the only win for the Redhawks, winning 6-4, 7-6 at No. 2. Annisa Warasanti battled at No. 4, forcing a tiebreaker in both sets but falling 7-6, 7-6. Krupa (No. 1), Zonova (No. 3), Majtan (No. 5) and Emelie (No. 6) each lost in straight sets.

The win improves UTM to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the OVC.

Southeast returns to action against visiting Jacksonville State at noon Saturday.
