MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Womack throws perfect game in Woodland baseball win

Tyler Womack pitched a perfect game to lead the Woodland baseball team to a 3-0 road win over Oak Ridge.

Womack recorded 13 strikeouts in the Cardinals' first win of the season while on the mound to lead Woodland (1-0).

Keegan Cooper recorded the only extra-base hit of the game with a double while Connor Goodwin batted in two runs for the Cardinals.

Charleston 8, Advance 3

Dawson Mayo hit a double and drove in one run as the host Hornets fell in their season opener to the Blue Jays.

Mayo also sustained the pitching loss for Advance (0-1). He threw three innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits. He recorded six strikeouts and three walks.

Blake Simmons was the winning pitcher. He threw 5 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and 12 walks.

Braxton Housman hit a double and batted in two runs to lead Charleston (1-0) to victory.

Sam Jones batted in two runs as the Rams debuted their season with a win over the Tigers in Game 1 of pool play in the Ste. Genevieve/Valle Catholic Opening Day Tournament.

Braden Cox went the distance on the mound and also tripled to lead Scott City. He allowed one unearned run, recorded nine strikeouts and walked three.

Cooper Crosnoe was marked with the pitching loss for Cape Central. He threw three innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits. He had four strikeouts and four walks.

Aaron Mueller hit a double and went 2 for 4 at the plate as the Pirates dealt the Rams their first loss of the season in Game 2 of pool play.

Ross Hadler pitched the final two innings to get the save and was checked with the win for Perryville.

Ramsey Evans also pitched two innings to suffer the loss for Scott City (1-1). He allowed two earned runs on three hits and had two strikeouts.

Joe Baker suffered the loss on the mound. He threw four innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits with one strikeout and two walks.

Nathan Patterson had a home run with two RBIs to pace Cape Central (0-2).

Emma Brune scored the lone goal of the game as the Crusaders debuted their season with a win over the Knightettes on the road.

Makayla Mueller provided the assist for Saxony Lutheran (1-0).

Goalkeeper Ashley Fritsche had one save in the shutout.

The Crusaders are back on their home field on Tuesday when they host Fredericktown.

Kelly 7, Herrin (Ill.) 1

Marissa Jones netted three goals as the Hawks kicked off their season with a victory over the Tigers in the opening round of the Kelly Round-Robin Tournament.

Emily Bolen contributed two goals while Kaitlyn Johnson and Maegan Walker each had one goal for Kelly (1-0). Mallory Urhahn dished out two assists for the Hawks while Meghan Foley, Hailey Noon and Lynsey Powers provided one assist apiece.

Goalkeepers Breeana Maronay and Marissa Worth combined for six saves in the post.

SPRING SOFTBALL

Scott City 10, Gideon 0

Rylee Venable blasted a triple as the host Rams only needed five innings to dispose of the Bulldogs in the season-opening victory.

Jamie Glastetter was the winning pitcher and also doubled for Scott City (1-0). She threw a complete game and recorded 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Brie Rhoades went the distance in the circle to sustain the loss for Gideon (0-1). She allowed seven earned runs, walked three and had no strikeouts.
