MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Scott County Central boys basketball eases into district semis

Garry Wilkerson scored a game-high 19 points, as the second-seeded Scott County Central boys basketball team trounced seventh-seeded North Pemiscot 77-24 in the opening round of the Class 1 District 1 tournament Saturday at Gideon High School.

Deantrell Beard had 14 points for Scott County Central (21-6), which held a 40-point advantage at halftime.

Keegan Brown finished with 10 points to lead North Pemiscot (4-19).

SCC will meet third-seeded Clarkton in a semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The top-seeded Eagles flew out to a 30-point lead at halftime and never looked back in the lopsided victory over the eighth-seeded Cougars in the opening round of the Class 2 District 2 tournament at the Perry Park Center in Perryville, Missouri.

Max Priggel led all scorers with 15 points, while Todd Priggel added 10 points for Oran (17-8), which used a balanced team scoring.

The second-seeded Panthers rolled into the Class 2 District 2 tournament semifinals thanks to a 30-point win over the seventh-seeded Red Devils.

Devin Wilfong led Meadow Heights (21-6) with 14 points, while Blake Bollinger added 13 points. The Panthers regrouped after the first quarter and held the Red Devils to single digits in each of the final frames on their way to the lopsided victory.

Gabe Henson tallied 15 points for Chaffee, and Landon Tenkhoff pitched in 11 points. The Red Devils ended their season with a record of 6-17.

Brianna Stause contributed 12 points for Oran (23-3).

Faith Grant had five points, as Scott City ended its season with a record of 1-21.

Oran advances to the semifinals where it will take on fourth-seeded Bismarck at 6 p.m. Monday.
