NMCC softball wins eighth straight game

PORTAGEVILLE -- The New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles softball team won their eighth straight game Thursday afternoon, defeating the Portageville Lady Bulldogs 9-2.

Freshman Kelly Robey picked up the win, pitching all seven innings, striking out 14 while walking two and giving up five hits.

Robey also starred at the plate, picking up three hits including two doubles. Whitney Tanner and Shelby Lawrence also picked up two hits apiece and Brittany Masterson had a 2-RBI single. For the game NMCC totaled 11 hits.

NMCC (8-1) will host Scott County Central this afternoon at 4 p.m.


Bernie 12, Risco 0

RISCO -- The Bernie Mules moved to 7-2 Thursday, defeating the Risco Tigers 12-0.

Dustin Cluck went 3-for-4 at the plate for Bernie with a solo home run and Silas Dill went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI.

Freshman Blake Keasler started on the mound for Bernie, throwing three scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and no walks. Fellow freshman Micah Woods pitched the final two innings for the Mules, striking out three while walking none.

Risco's Ross Carter picked up the loss on the mound while Brandon Bennett and Zack Williams collected the Tigers' only hits.

Bernie will host North Pemiscot and Bloomfield on Saturday.
