New Madrid County, Risco both post wins

NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles won their sixth game in-a-row Tuesday night, holding off the Twin Rivers Royals 61-56.

NMCC jumped out to a big 17-5 lead after one quarter and led 31-18 at the half before Twin Rivers mounted a comeback in the third. The Royals outscored NMCC 16-7 in the third to cut the lead to 38-34 but the Eagles were able to hang on for the win.

NMCC (9-6) was led in scoring by Lance Price who had a game-high 17. Josh Minner chipped in 15.

Kyle Oberkramer scored 14 for Twin Rivers while Jordan Fowler and Dylan Stockton each put in 12.

NMCC will be back in action Friday night when they travel to Dexter.

Risco 73, Cooter 58

COOTER -- The Risco Tigers went on the road and pulled out a 73-58 Tri-County Conference win over the Cooter Wildcats Tuesday night.

"This was the best game we've played all year," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship. "Our intensity was up the entire game and tonight is the way this team is capable of playing."

The Tigers jumped out to a 19-11 lead in the first quarter and built a 37-26 halftime lead on their way to the victory.

Risco (3-9) was led in scoring by Kyle White's 17 points. Kyle Hayes and Derek Fowler added 13 and 11 respectively.

"I thought Derek Fowler played extremely well," Blankenship said. "He really rebounded well for us tonight."

The Wildcats were led by Aaron McCaig's 22.

Cooter won the junior varsity contest 57-55. Brandon Bennett had 29 for Risco while Shane Henning had 25 for Cooter.

Risco will be back in action Friday night when they travel to Holcomb.

Hayti 71, Malden 60

HAYTI -- The Hayti Indians claimed a share of the Bootheel Conference Championship with a 71-60 win over Malden on Tuesday night.
