ELLINGTON — Ellington is headed to its first ever final four. On Wednesday, the Whippets defeated Chaffee 4-2 to advance to the MSHSAA Class 2 semifinals. “I was holding back tears a little bit,” second baseman Nolan Heady said. “I’m excited. We’re going to O’fallon, and I’m just ready to play some more baseball and get some more wins.” With Chaffee down to its last out in the top of the seventh inning, Kade Sullivan drove a hard liner to left-center field. From his position in center, Carson McNail sprinted over and made a diving snag to end the game and send the Whippets to the next round.
