High School Volleyball Forum: Volleyball Records

Posted by The Legend on Fri, Sep 17, 2010, at 2:00 AM:

Being the numbers person that I am, I thought it would be interesting to start a discussion about the volleyball records of some of the teams that I've found most mentioned on this website. So I've dug around and looked at their schedules and figured out the records for the following schools. If I made a mistake, please anyone feel feel to clarify.

CLASS 1

*Zalma: 12-1 (0.923) L: Scott City

*Leopold: 10-2 (0.833) L: Zalma, Notre Dame

*Meadow Heights: 8-5 (0.615) L: Leopold (twice), Eminence, Scott City, Lesterville

*Bernie: 7-5-1 (0.577) L: Notre Dame, Bell City, Meadow Heights, Bismarck, Leopold - T: Bismarck

*Bell City: 6-6-2 (0.500) L: Zalma, Advance, Meadow Heights, Lebanon, Perryville (twice) - T: Bismarck, Ste. Genevieve

*Advance: 5-6-1 (0.458) L: Zalma, Meadow Heights, Scott City, Leopold, Bernie (twice) - T: Seckman

CLASS 2

*Scott City: 8-2-1 (0.773) L: Notre Dame, Bloomfield - T: Lesterville

*Bloomfield: 7-3 (0.700) L: Notre Dame, Zalma, St. Vincent

CLASS 3

*Perryville: 14-1-1 (0.906) L: Leopold - T: Eminence

*Notre Dame: 15-2 (0.882) L: Perryville, Scott City

  • I will follow this post with this thought my friend . . . Class 1 volleyball is the strongest I've seen it in a long time in Southeast Missouri. Leopold, Zalma and Meadow Heights are among the best Class 1 teams in the state and they are all in the same county.

Class 2 appears to be a two team race. In Class 2, it appears the winner of a Scott City / Bloomfield sectional game will advance to state. St. Vincent remains capable of going a long way in the state playoffs, however.

Class 3 is more difficult to predict. Perryville and Notre Dame are almost certainly the best Class 3 teams among semoball schools. However, there are other Class 3 teams outside of Southeast Missouri that could provide a tough test for Notre Dame or Perryville at the end of the season in sectionals .

  • I believe that Bell City has only lost once to Perryville. Their other loss came from Poplar Bluff.

-- Posted by volleyballin on Fri, Sep 17, 2010, at 6:36 AM
  • Correction, Bell City did lose to Perryville twice, once at ND tourney, once at SEMO Tourney. They did not lose to Lebabnon, though.

  • I would like to know the record of Eminence, Winona, and Summersville. All 3 in same district. I know Lesterville beat Summersville last night in 3 games. 23-25, 25-23, 25-21

Bell City did lose to Lebanon. I watched the game.

  • you are right...I was looking at maxpreps where it says that Bell City beat Lebanon. Bell City has lost to Perryville (twice), Lebanon, Zalma, Advance, Meadow Heights, Poplar Bluff. Just trying to clarify their record from the record listings above.

-- Posted by volleyballin on Fri, Sep 17, 2010, at 2:31 PM
  • Thank you for the clarification, volleyballin. I did miss Bell City's loss to Poplar Bluff. That means their record is 6-7-2 (0.467).

I too would like to know the records for some teams out west like Eminence and Winona. I've tried hunting around for a schedule for Eminence and couldn't find one.

I did, however, find one for Lesterville. I've calculated up their record as well. As of today, Lesterville's record is 10-2-1 (losses coming to Poplar Bluff and Perryville, the tie coming to Scott City, all in the SEMO Classics). (0.808) So insert Lesterville below Leopold and above Meadow Heights.

If anyone knows Eminence or Winona's record, please feel free to post it. Do we have any readers from Shannon County on here? :-)

  • According to MaxPreps, Eminence is 9-1-1 with a win over Winona in 2 sets and splitting with Perryville and then losing in 2 sets to Scott City.

-- Posted by VBMama on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 1:25 PM
  • One other notable win they had was over Meadow Heights.

-- Posted by VBMama on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 1:26 PM
  • Summersville is listed as 7-2-0 but I don't think that's correct. They just played in the Cabool Tournament over the weekend and won it pretty easily, but their games from that tourney were not listed yet.

-- Posted by VBMama on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 1:29 PM
  • It's showing Winona as 4-3-1 but there are a couple of games without scores posted.

Anyway, all of this info was found on maxpreps

-- Posted by VBMama on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 1:32 PM
  • Thank you for the information VBMama. I think Lesterville's record has improved to 12-2-1 with a couple of wins this weekend in the Clearwater Tournament.

I have a friend who works in the Winona School District who I'm trying to get a hold of to see if she could get their record for us.

-- Posted by The Legend on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 3:29 PM
  • Lesterville improves to 14-2-1 with winning the Clearwater tourney.

-- Posted by semovolleyball on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 4:37 PM
  • rljohnson93: You are correct, Lesterville is 14-2-1 with losses to Poplar Bluff and Perryville and a tie with Scott City. I can't wait until 9-30 when Lesterville will host Eminence!

    -- Posted by atm7819 on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 5:03 PM
  • Rljohnson93 and atm7819, do you all have all of the results from the Clearwater Tournament? I'm surprised it wasn't covered on here but Dustin can't be at two places at one time. I heard there were only six teams in it: Lesterville, Clearwater, Greenville, Southern Reynolds County, Park Hills Central and I'm missing another team.

-- Posted by The Legend on Mon, Sep 20, 2010, at 8:15 PM
  • South Iron was the 6th team. I don't remember scores, but I can tell you the results.

    Pool Play:

    Lesterville defeated Greenville 2-0.

    Lesterville defeated Southern Reynolds 2-0.

Greenville and Southern Reynolds tied 1-1.

    Central defeated South Iron 2-0.

    Clearwater defeated South Iron 2-0.

    Central and Clearwater tied 1-1.

    Tournament Play:

    Clearwater defeated Southern Reynolds 2-1.

    Lesterville defeated Central 2-1.

    Lesterville defeated Clearwater 2-0.

  • Gideon is 12-2-1. They play tomorrow at the Gideon Invitational Tournament.

Thanks, I had not looked that far ahead. I thought it was odd to have three games like that, let alone four. Let's hope we can win all four and then see what the state rankings say.

  • UPDATED VOLLEYBALL RECORDS

Gideon may have a chance in Class 1. South Pemiscot has a win against Gideon.

Any Gideon or South Pemiscot fans out there?

  • Correction to Bernie's record:

Their record as of October 1 is 15-7-2

-- Posted by BernieVolleyball on Sun, Oct 3, 2010, at 11:11 AM
  • Thank you for the clarification, Bernievolleyball. I must have missed a game somewhere. I only counted 14 wins: Advance (twice), Poplar Bluff, Puxico, Malden, Sikeston, Caruthersville, Holcomb (twice), New Haven, Hoxie, Trumann, Walnut Ridge, and Piggott. Which team did I miss? Thank you.

-- Posted by The Legend on Sun, Oct 3, 2010, at 11:58 PM
  • The game against Dexter was won as well, that is the one that you missed.

  • As of today, 10-04-10, Scott City is 18-4-1. They lost two games in the ASU Tournament. One to Class 5, Nettleton and one to Class 5 Marion, AR. Not bad for a class 2 school!
