That was everyone who had a full nine game schedule on MSHAA website
I forgot that MSHSAA schedules go out that far if teams put them in. Thanks for the info WWE!
Found the Jackson schedule. Man, those guys aren't big on seeking out competition are they?
9/11 Poplar Bluff
9/18 at Central (Cape Girardeau)
9/25 at Sikeston
10/2 at Miller Career Academy
10/23 at Hickman
Poplar Bluff went and picked up a far superior non-conference schedule
Hey Tweeter no one will come play us . Several have been asked 🤷♂️
Games are hard to find for the Jackson Indians. Who wants to travel over 100 miles to get turbo clocked ?
Hell, thatís an average class 3 schedule at best
It's actually harder than you think for Bluff. Jackson and Cape have the advantage of being right off the interstate, Sikeston could also load up but they're lazy. Not a lot of inner city schools wanna take the 2.5-3 hour drive down 67 and most SWMO teams can't due to having a whole regular schedule of conference games. I hope that scheduling Kennett wasn't a mistake. I remember a few years back we had Maplewood-Richmond Heights on the schedule. That schedule was made before they had that outbreak that left their football program and school depeleted.
I didn't include Jackson because they only have 8 games listed.
If people are willing to play CBC in St. Louis, you could find games. I bet Lutheran North would play the Indians. Farmington had the stones to schedule them. There are a lot of private schools to schedule, especially now that there won't be any private schools in Class 5. Just seems like weak schedule for a team that has had the success they've had. Over on Mosports the private schools complain about the STL publics not scheduling them. I just figured they'd play some of the big boys this year. I guess the Mules have a little more gumption.
Both St. Mary's and O'fallon (IL) would beat any of Jackson's non-conference opponents.
Hey Tweeter who cares ! I didnít realize you was the football schedule police . And instead of running my mouth under some fake name Iíll sign mine !
Charlie Tweeter, I totally agree with you. Schools like CBC, DeSmet, Vianney, MICDS, Lutheran North, O'fallon IL, Edwardsville IL and East St Louis IL would totally play Jackson.
I just thought a team returning almost everything would try and schedule some top end competition. Some programs have the stomach for it and others like to hide out in SEMO. I guess it is just a difference of opinion.
It is working so I guess there's no reason to change it. I'm really excited to see next year's Webb City vs. Jackson playoff matchup.
Is Webb City getting moved up to class 5?
With Class 1 becoming the catch all class, as opposed to Class 5, you can expect the top 15-20 enrollments from Class 4 becoming Class 5 next year.
I agree with Charlie Tweeter. I am by no means an expert on high school football, but I can't see the merit in playing teams that will be mercy clocked by halftime. As a fan, it gets boring to watch, and as far as the team goes, wouldn't it be beneficial come playoff time to be more battle hardened?
Battle hardened? Jackson lost class 5 championship in overtime, without the holding call probably win!
No public schools are moving up next season. It's only private schoola that are getting the new "multiplier" against them. Webb City will still be Class 4. However if I'm wrong I would love to see Jackson vs Webb City in the state Championship
I think Webb City is moving up because of their enrollment.
If Jackson ever needs a new coach they have several on here to choose from!!
If several private schools move to Class 3, to keep numbers in classes somewhat even, some schools will have to move up or down. An unintended side-effect of the success rule on private schools.
devil74, I'm well aware of Jackson's accomplishments this year as I was at every game including Eureka, Staley, & Carthage. No one is prouder of these young men than I am. I was not suggesting that they were not playoff ready. I was merely stating what to me seems obvious- no matter what you do, you only improve by challenging yourself.
Last year the top 32 enrollments were class 6. Then they built from class 1 on up. So after class four was done, everyone that was left made up class 5.
Starting next year they will still take the top 32 for class 6 and then they will start with class 5 and work down. Class 5 had 36 schools last year. Next year you can expect class 5 to be around 57 schools. The top 15-20 class 4 schools will, most likely, be class 5 next year. That should include Webb City.
After these enrollment breaks are made, then the private school success multiplier will be added and those schools will move up based on the last six years. I'd assume that Valle and Lutheran North will end up in Class 3.
public schools will not be moved after the fact to even out the classes. Nothing will change because private schools moved up.
The information is out there.
I guess I stand corrected ... thanks Charlie. My bad.
If next year's system was in place this past year, these schools would have been added to Class 5.
Belton, Liberty (Wentzville), Willard, Lebanon, Parkway Central, Camdenton, Grain Valley, Webb City, Rockwood Summit, Zumwalt East, Washington, Ladue, Ruskin, Grandview (KC), Neosho, Cape, Rolla, Farmington, Platte County, Kearney, Raytown South.
3 of 4 Semifinalists would have moved up, including both finalists and the last three state champs. Class 5 will be much more competetive next year.
Our District would've probably been
Bluff, Jackson, Cape, Farmington, Seckman, Fox, Rockwood Summit
Webb beat Carthage 32-7. Wow, I knew they had a heckuva program but I didn't realize the Class 4 champs whipped the Class 5 champs like that.
old rocker, your point is well taken and you followed and supported a class program in the Jackson Indians. All are proud and thankful of the 2019-2020 team accomplishments, but also realize that the last Jackson team to make the final was 24 years ago. It is never easy and never a given to guarantee to make it that far again plus the fact Jackson overcame some major injuries this year is a testament to the program. Beefing up the schedule could work for them or against them.
Yes Webb City has a awesome program and they beat up on the class 5 champs . Hopefully with that superior non conference schedule bluff has put together they can close the gap on that (WOW) 68-19 thumping they took from the class 5 runner up 👍
HAHAHAHA! It seems that only one Welker stays cool, calm, and collected when challenged. I guess it's a good thing for Coach Eckley that it is the one that handles the football for him.
Wow! You still havenít signed your name . Now your being challenged 🤷♂️
I agree devil74. The last thing that I want to see is an injury to our (or anyone else's) players. I know that just making it to the final game is a great accomplishment & that in itself is affected by the overall health of the team. I don't want every game to be like Staley or Carthage, I would just like them to be a little more competitive.
Jackson just added Cardinal Ritter to their schedule for next season. It will be a home game.
I retract my previous statements. Kudos to Jackson for picking up Cardinal Ritter. That should still be a very strong team next year and they type of challenge that championship football teams seek out.
Very good pickup, I hope they give CR a beatdown
Farmington going to Hayti? Thatís an interesting game to say the least
