Now that the season is going full throttle, I know some underclassman out there playing well, who'd like a little recognition. We all know the top players and teams in the area, Chris Pobst at SD Sports just released that list and it looked solid. However, all those guys were seniors. Who are the top Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman in Southeast Missouri ?

  • Ian Torrey from Portageville is one of the top freshmen in the area this year that I have seen. He's got a lot of upside with his length and athleticism.

  • Damascus Sharp - freshman Charleston

For his size this kid gets it done night after night as well as anyone. This kid knocks down crucial game situation 3s with defenders in his face and can finish high off the glass when he takes it to the hole. Next year when Del has moved on we will see how he handles being the man that gets all the attention defensively. But this young man is smooth. When he gets it done against teams that are on charleston schedule as a freshman it's impressive. At least in my opinion!

  • Just for the record, a junior is not an underclassman. Just freshman and sophomore's.

Just for the record, the question reads, "Who are the top Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman in Southeast Missouri ?"

  • Amaud Bates a freshman from Cville is very good in football and basketball. DeAndre Davis an eighth grader from Cville is also a standout in football and basketball. The eighth and ninth graders at Cville have some good players. The ninth grade class is very talented

  • I had Demarcus Sharp in class last year and he has a great feel for the game. Excellent shooter, and has the ability to go by you and hit that runner(floater) in the paint. One of the few kids at his age that understands how to go opposite pressure and make the game look easy. Not super quick though, and that may hurt him as defenses start to key on him. Nice passer also.

  • Shelby Moon is a Jr. at Neelyville High School and truly excels at basketball and softball. As a Sophomore Shelby earned All State, All Region, All District and All Conference in Basketball & more than likely the same in softball. I have watched her make so many winning buckets in her 3 year career. She has cheered from the sideline her Fr. year suffering from broken ankle; her So. year with broken wrist but thus far her Jr. year has remained healthy. I would say she is probably the best 3 point shooter they have, great % from FT line, defensively awesome, aggressive on the steals and I hear is a stand out in the classroom with a 3.8 GPA. All Around a Great Player with a lot of heart!

  • Al Young has had the team on his back this whole season so far and despite battling could trouble, had things going for his team tonight. Over at Jackson, Jacob Smith had a phenomenal game I hear, displaying it all. Heard he even threw down a monster dunk as well. Did Hester play at all? I didn't hear much about him.

Charleston and Steele couldn't keep him from scoring or rebounding
