High School Basketball Forum: Best 10th graders in SEMO!

Posted by Real Sports Analyst 1 on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 12:58 PM:

Saw a box score where Dylan dead eye Lingle scored 31 points on 11-12 from 3 He's one if not the best Sophs in area! Who's yours? He's an absolute JV star!

  • Excuse me 33 points!

Tyron Alston from Caruthersville. He averages at least 20 points a game on a team that has 4-6 guys in double figures every game. The kid is very good. That's varsity level.

Dominique Dyes has become a more and more important piece for Sikeston this year as the season has gone along. He hasn't scored a ton of points nightly (tough for anyone to do when you consider how many weapons Sikeston has) but I'd say he's been one of the better sophomores in the area.

  • Juwon Kimble, he plays on Sikeston JV. He has a very pretty shot. Dominique Dyes also but he's already been mentioned, he plays on varsity.

  • Cole Renken and Ethan Flowers of Dexter are sophomore starters for the varsity. On our JV Jacob Pedigo also has a sweet shot esp. from beyond the arc.

  • A Sophomore that's a JV star?? Hahaha is there such a thing?

-- Posted by Champ Kind on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 5:26 PM
  • The question asked for top 10th graders. It didn't specify JV or varsity, but sure, I've seen JV kids that would be standouts on varsity teams if they played at a different school, but due to numbers or top talent ahead of them, had to play JV ball.

-- Posted by semohoops on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 5:40 PM
  • I've never seen a kid that was one of the best Sophomores in all of Southeast Missouri playing on a JV.

-- Posted by Champ Kind on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 6:23 PM
  • The Beel kid from Leopold!

-- Posted by Hatershate on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 6:41 PM
  • I'm agreeing with semohoops. Take a school like Sikeston very few sophomores will play varsity just because of the talent of upperclassmen. Pretty sure it didn't clarify JV or Varsity. I decided not to say what I really wanted to say to someone on here only because I would probably be suspended for a week from here just saying some are just rude.

Help me, who is Dylan Lingle?

-- Posted by Larry Doby on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 7:28 PM
  • Well if youre gunna hint at it like you wanna say something, how bout you grow a set and say it.

-- Posted by Champ Kind on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 7:30 PM
  • TFA is a woman Champ Kind.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 7:36 PM
  • Amen Champ!

-- Posted by Hatershate on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 7:39 PM
  • I don't need to grow a set I could probably just grab yours and rip them off and use them. Your probably one of those people that don't even go to JV games. Where do you think that the varsity players come from straight from jr high to varsity? If its a small school you represent than sure. I'm not usually a rude person or even get hateful on here but considering I said something about a JV player I was offended by your comment. Now I'm done I said what I said. I do not care what you come back with because you are of no importance to me as of now. Have fun bashing me because just know I'm going to be laughing.

For what it's worth. By reading the post, it sounds like ole Dead Eye is lighting it up during the jv game.

In a big school like Sikeston a really good sophomore might not be able to crack the varsity roster, like TFA said.

However, on a team with only 2 or 3 wins this late in season if a kid is all that he probably would not still be playin' seven minute quarters.

But I still want to know who Dylan Lingle is.

-- Posted by Larry Doby on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 8:05 PM
  • Ok now I'm going to apologize I see where whomever made this forum said JV star and that's who you were talking to. I don't care to apologize I'm wrong a lot. Just been one of those weeks and everything is hitting me wrong.

-- Posted by TFA on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 8:10 PM
  • No TFA..The forum said "best 10th graders" and he mentioned that Dylan Lingle was a JV star...It never said who is the "best JV" sophomore. He just said "who is the best 10th grader"?

-- Posted by crackerjack on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 8:30 PM
  • I didn't word it right earlier. I meant to say a star sophomore on JV, is there such a thing? When I see Top players in a class, I am thinking the best 3 or 5 players in all of semo in a class. I don't care what school we're talkin about, Sikeston, Jackson, Cape, Notre Dame, Bluff, I have never seen one of the top sophomores in semo playing on JV.

-- Posted by Champ Kind on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 8:31 PM
  • By the way...Who does Dylan Lingle play for? If he's that great of a player seems he would be on varsity

-- Posted by crackerjack on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 8:36 PM
  • By using my Internet sources, (Google, MaxPreps, etc), I have determined that Dylan Lingle attends East Prairie HS.

  • As awful as EP is then a stud sophomore would be on varsity. Who did he score 31 against? The sisters of the poor

-- Posted by crackerjack on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 9:26 PM
  • Jake Bridges starting point guard for Park Hills Central

-- Posted by hardwork on Sat, Jan 25, 2014, at 10:11 PM
  • Senath and Kennett both have 3 or 4 really good sophomores who split time between jv and varsity. Some of them are strictly varsity though.

-- Posted by hoopaholiczanon on Sun, Jan 26, 2014, at 2:06 AM
  • EP has 2 10th graders playing on varsity and Lingle is not one of them. He might have had one good game, no way he is the best 10th grader in semo.

-- Posted by igobybob on Sun, Jan 26, 2014, at 9:06 AM
  • I haven't seen a sophomore that is anywhere close to Vandiver, but then again he plays Varsity so he's not a jv star,!

  • Larry, where's the "Like" button or the +1 when you need it? :-)

-- Posted by gianthook on Sun, Jan 26, 2014, at 11:31 AM
  • Al Young may currently be the best. Can't think of his name but there is a point guard from Sikeston that is solid.

Jackson has a couple of 10th graders that really execute well.

Dominque Dyes from Sikeston is good and he's a sophomore on varsity

  • Dylan Lingle created this forum, just look at the creators name. I have seen him play and was not impressed.

-- Posted by Jongamefan on Fri, Feb 14, 2014, at 11:56 PM
  • Maybe he didn't have anyone guarding him?

-- Posted by Mike Cox on Sat, Feb 15, 2014, at 1:40 AM
  • I think there is no doubt after last night about the best Soph. Dominique Dyes had 17 points, 3 3PT against the highest touted Cape defense. His season avg. PPG 9.2,3PT 41%. (Cox had 16, Statam 9 last night). He has played in all 20 Varsity games.

    -- Posted by SHS59 on Sat, Feb 15, 2014, at 7:20 AM
  • Trevor ison from malden is going to be a good one

-- Posted by Ramfanman on Sat, Feb 15, 2014, at 10:35 AM
  • To make my case even better, Dominique has 55 rebounds as a guard 3rd best on the best team in the area (I think), 52 assists 3rd also, 24 steals 4th. All by a 5'10" sophomore.

    -- Posted by SHS59 on Sat, Feb 15, 2014, at 11:18 AM
  • Not in any order, but I'd have to say these 5 below would be my starting 5 of Sophomores in the area because they start for their Varsity teams.

    Dominque Dyes - Sikeston

    Kelvondre Moore - Charleston

    Al Young - Cape

    Akeem Nelson- Kennett

    Trevor Ison - Malden

Lingle at EP can shoot the 3 ball. I don't know if he's up to playing full-time varsity or not like the others, but if he went 11-12 from 3 vs. anyone that's impressive.

  • Al Young

    Jeffrey Potter

    Alston

    Dyes

    Nelson

    Zach Beel

  • The only circumstance I could see where a top sophomore was playing jv is if he transferred schools and was forced to play that level due to regulations, but otherwise would be a good varsity player.

-- Posted by CapeAlum on Sat, Feb 15, 2014, at 1:51 PM
  • Dylan and Dakota Adams from Campbell are solid players for a class 2 school. Led team to conference tournament JV championship. They have been splitting time all year.
