High School Basketball Forum: Top Teams Observed

Posted by zebra.stripe on Thu, Dec 15, 2016, at 11:35 AM:

We are nearing the Christmas/New Year mark, which in part marks the halfway point of many seasons. Who are some of the toughest teams you have seen out there, from semo region to STL, to the West. What ya got?

Replies (11)

  • Class 1 SCC, Advance, Eminence, Risco

Class 2 Hartville and everybody else

Class 3 Meat Grinder, C-Ville, C-town, Licking, Whitfield, Ritter

    Class 4 Vashon, Sikeston

Class 5 Webster Groves, CBC, Bluff (if they have all their players)

St. Louis has the most talent of players by far of any region. Coaching is suspect. Best coaching? SEMO for sure.

Class 1 Scott County Central, Risco, Advance...The Mcbride boy is hurt at Eminence so I wouldn't put them in the mix.

Class 2 Hartville, Thayer...Sleeper (Alton Comets)

Class 3 Caruthersville, Charleston, Saxony Luthern...sleeper (Doniphan only 2 loss's are to Caruthersville.)

    Class 4 Sikeston

Class 5 Have not seen any class 5 games this year

country-dude is on point with his list, I just tweaked it a little.

  • Nice..... I did not realize Alton was class 2 again. haven't they been a small Class 3? Who they got? I know of the big Point Guard with some skill?

Class 1: SCC, Advance, Eminence if the McBride boy is healthy.

Class 2: Hartville has to be the Favorite, but want to throw in Thayer... possibly Ellington?

Class 3: Caruthersville, Charleston, and Doniphan is solid...

Class 4: Vashon is Sick, be fun to see them play Sikeston....

Class 5: I have no clue?

Alton main horse is Caleb Steele. Alton is in a tuff district with Ellington and Thayer, so we will really see how good they are as the season goes.

  • Hoops your prolly right! Doniphan is quick and athletic! I have only seen them play twice and haven't seen Saxony yet at all. Read about their length, obviously they will be quick as well! Saxony may have the upper edge just reading about Saxony....

What about Twin Rivers? Heard the beat Hayti by 10 the other night?

  • Park Hills not on anyone's radar?? Haven't heard much about them this year

  • Class 1- SCC and Advance. Eminence may be a sleeper team.

Class 2- Thayer and Hartville. Thayer beat Hartville this summer in a crazy game! Would love to see this matchup. There's some beef here with one of the kids off Hartville's team last year moving to Thayer this year! Unfortunately it'd be the first game outta districts. But either way these two teams are solid this year and would compete for a title in classes 1-3 and maybe 1-4 IMO

Class 3- Look for either Grove or licking to make push this year for the 1 public school that makes the final 4 every year in this class lol

    Class 4- Sikeston

    Class 5- Kickapoo
