High School Baseball Forum: district tournament scores

Posted by Thot McGee on Sat, May 12, 2012, at 8:13 AM:

Since we will mostly all be busy at our respective locations today lets all post our scores from the games we attend in this thread that way there is only one place to go to find a score. Me and deadred will probably have the chaffee site covered

Jackson taking infield now. It is the No. 3 seed and Cape Central is No. 6, but Central did beat the Indians at Jackson early in the season. It's sprinkling now, but it doesn't look like any big rain is imminent.

  • Central up 5-0 after 3.5. Bolen visibly/audibly angry with ump after he didn't get a strike three call that would have gotten him out of the inning without a run scoring. He threw wild to walk in a run on the next pitch and then he and the catcher let a ball get away in between pitches to let another run score. I missed the exchange, was looking down.

    This is Baseball for you.

Chaffee may have lost a close one to Jefferson, but they did manage to beat down St. Vincent this year 12-0.

Nice season Shakespeare. A few more wins and you might have managed as many wins as losses!

-- Posted by UFO on Mon, May 14, 2012, at 5:29 PM
  • I'm not ashamed of that, we won games we were supposed to and lost games we were supposed to, and played alot better teams than Chaffee to closer games. It's how pitching falls for us. And not to mention we play a much more difficult schedule than Chaffee. We were a night and day team there's no hiding it.

For a three win team last year to nine this year I can live with that.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Mon, May 14, 2012, at 9:33 PM
  • This game is insane. De Soto catcher just threw the ball away trying to pick off Cavaness. He got to third. The back to back intentional walks bring up Ramsey Scott.

  • whats everyone's take on the Jefferson valle game? I expect a 4-2 type game... Jefferson beat us at our own formula. Make no errors and limit walks...they had one of each and we had 2 errors 3 walks. Valles offense hasn't looked as strong as I expected but the pitching and defense have been stellar

-- Posted by Thot McGee on Wed, May 16, 2012, at 8:19 AM

N.D. scored 4 on Grantham, but lost on a Fluke play. Lynch was knocked down and injured when Kennett emptied the bases. Ball just sit there. Lynch was down.

Kennett is a strong team and should compete well in Class 3 State. Either team could have won this. Kennett had a balk and 3 errors.

Notre Dame was scrappy all night, especially with runners on the base paths.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Thu, May 17, 2012, at 7:40 PM
  • I just watched one of the best high school baseball games I've ever seen at the Bernie vs Oran game. The Oran centerfielder made one of the best if not the best catch I've seen at the high school level catching a ball on the dead run maybe 2 or 3 from the centerfield fence then crashing into it and somehow holding on to the ball. That play cost Bernie at least one run. Both teams played with tremendous heart. All year, people have gave Bernie no respect. The last two weeks or so Bernie has beat several good teams and have been playing really well if anyone had been paying attention. All I saw on year was Oran was going to kill Bernie. They were already talking about the Oran/Cooter matchup. They also went 16-5 in the Fall and beat several good teams as well. It's too bad this classic had an absolutely horrendous call on a trapped ball in the outfield that cost Bernie at least one run if not more. Everyone who got a good look at it knew that the ball was trapped including the home plate umpire. Great, great district championship game.

-- Posted by paulm on Thu, May 17, 2012, at 7:53 PM
  • The best catch I saw this year was by Christian Caveness on a ball in deep left-center on the dead run, then spinning and turning it into a double play. I think it was in the SEMO Conf. tournament.

  • Greenville has Bennett( a big lefty) and Hillis. Both are pretty solid

  • @Paul, I wouldn't say it was one of the best I've ever seen but it was a great game. Bernie did impress me today a great amount. 1-9 could all stroke the ball. I'm pretty sure Moore only had 1 K through 5 innings of work. On top of this, I also heard our radio announcer say Bernie only has two seniors on this years team. They will definitely be a contender again next year if they can stay class 1. As for the ball in left that you said the leftfielder trapped, I was setting down the left field line at the time, 50 ft. parallel to where the play took place and I'll be the first to tell you that was a catch. I had the best view in the ball park on the play. If I didn't believe it was, I would speak up now since it's over and it doesn't matter at this point, but I'm an honest guy and that was a clean catch.

  • Congrats to Greenville by the way. I would never have dreamed they would have won their district with Bloomfield and Clearwater in it. Congrats.

  • Hows Dora doing

  • Dora? She's still exploring I suppose?

Not who you think I am. I just really have trouble digesting Chaffee fans every time they have a decent team in any sport. It's over. You won a lot of games. Congrats! But only Chaffee fans would bring themselves into a thread about district championship game scores.
