Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Welcome back to Peters Gym in Poplar Bluff where the boys take Tyler Hansbrough Court for the MSHSAA Class 5 District 1 semifinals. Up first we've got Poplar Bluff and Seckman at 6 p.m. followed by Cape Central and Jackson at around 7.

FINAL: Poplar Bluff 81, Seckman 75.

Jay Raulston scored 23 and Greg Coble added a career-high 20 as the Mules advanced to the district final for the third straight year.

The Mules led 47-31 at halftime and by 21 late in the third quarter but Seckman put together an 18-4 run and cut the margin to four with 2:35 to go. Coble answered with a three-point play but Seckman got within four again with 44 seconds left. Poplar Bluff, which missed nine fourth-quarter free throws, got a putback by Jordan Marler off one in the final minute and Raulston iced the game with two free throws in the final seconds.

Kyle Leslie scored 34 for Seckman (13-13), hitting all 12 of his free throws, while Ben Cookson added 16 points.

Anything can happen this time of the year but I really like Poplar Bluff's chances against Seckman.
