2008 Malden Football Schedule

The 2008 football schedule is out for the Malden Green Wave. The Green Wave will once again open the season against Scott City, although this time on the road. Other road games include Hayti, Portageville, Chaffee and Caruthersville.
Home games include Thayer, Dexter, Kennett, Charleston and East Prairie.

The Green Wave finished last season with a 3-7 record, missing out on the playoffs by one game. Under MSHSAA's new playoff format, which begins this season, the Green Wave would have been a playoff team a year ago. This season, the top two teams from each district will qualify for the playoffs. Previously, only the top team in each district qualified.
Summer ball doubleheader Poplar Bluff and Dexter waited out the weather Monday night but completed their doubleheader that resulted in a Mules sweep. Poplar Bluff's junior varsity team dominated their game, leading 14-2 when lightning ended the game in the fifth inning. Poplar Bluff scored 10 runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach.
