SEMO's Hosket, Sanders earn OVC weekly honors

Southeast Missouri State football's Jesse Hosket and Cameron Sanders earned player of the week honors from the Ohio Valley Conference on Sunday.

Hosket was named Co-Newcomer of the Week, while Sanders picked up honors for Co-Specialist of the Week.

The 6-foot-5 Hosket was 20-of-24 passing (83 percent) for 230 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in the Redhawks' 41-21 win Saturday over visiting Austin Peay. The junior, who transferred from East Central Community College, now has 10 TD passes on the season and is ranked 29th nationally with 1,794 yards passing.

Sanders, a sophomore, returned a kickoff 93 yards to the end zone during the third quarter against the Governors. He's the third player in the conference to return a kickoff for a touchdown this season. The 6-2, 206-pound running back has returned two kickoffs for a touchdown during his college career, and he holds the school record for the longest and third-longest kickoff returns. Sanders ranks 15th nationally in kickoff returns (26.6 yards per return).

Murray State's KD Humphries (Offensive), UT Martin's James Gilleylen (Defensive), Jacksonville State's Cade Stinnett (Co-Specialist) and Jacksonville State's Marlon Bridges (Co-Newcomer) also earned player of the week honors from the OVC.
