Ty Margenthaler accepts assistant coaching position at Samford

Former Southeast Missouri State women's basketball coach Ty Margenthaler announced Friday morning via Twitter that he has accepted a job as an assistant coach at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.

Margenthaler, who resigned from Southeast on March 23, will join the staff of Mike Morris. The Bulldogs were 15-15 last season and 8-6 in the Southern Conference. Southeast announced Rekha Patterson as Margenthaler's replacement on April 15. The Redhawks were 37-78 and 18-46 in the Ohio Valley Conference and failed to make the OVC tournament during Margenthaler's four seasons at Southeast.

Concerning the four recruits Margenthaler signed this year, I see on her twitter page that Amber Lindfors is now going to Valparaiso. Olivia Crozier used to say "Future Redhawk" on her twitter page but now doesn't say anything about Semo at all. Don't know anything about the Mackowiak twins. Rachel or Erin, are you hearing anything?

based upon the recent level of talent, that may be a good thing. it's very late for coach patterson to be able to bring in any players but it certainly gives her the opportunity, even at the 11th hour.
